ICS : Israeli Circus School
Who are we?
The Israel Circus School is run by the Association for the Development of Circus Arts in Israel, a non-profit organization established in 2002, and the first to provide circus training and skills to Israeli children, youth and adults.
What do we do?
Based in the historic “Beit Haam” village hall in Kfar Yehoshua in the Valley of Jezreel in northern Israel, the Israel Circus School has trained hundreds of participants of all ages in circus arts over the past decade. These include year-long classes, short term intensive workshops, long-range training programs in aerial and ground acrobatics, clowning, juggling and more. In keeping with the world trend of the last 20 years, the Israel Circus School in Kfar Yehoshua does not employ animals, and focuses on perfecting the skills and techniques of the human body.Social and Educational Projects: We are about more than just entertainment. We believe that our activities may serve as a bridge between cultures, and that they also serve as significant and effective therapeutic tools. From the beginning, the Israel Circus School has included social and educational activities for youth at risk, intercultural workshops for Arab and Jewish groups, and workshops for those with special needs, thus contributing to the diverse fabric of Israeli society.
The Association for the Development of Circus Arts in Israel has received international recognition and support, including that of Arthur Pedlar, from the International Clown Association, and that of the European Union.
Circus and Culture for the Community
The Israel Circus School offers a wide range of classes, workshops and events, and currently serves as a dynamic center for social, cultural and community activities. Our monthly “Saturday at the Circus” events at our circus space in Kfar Yehoshua draw large crowds and provide our participants, staff, and visiting performers with an opportunity to demonstrate their talents and abilities. In addition to our ongoing classes, workshops and training sessions, we host various groups of circus artists from abroad, and they in turn contribute their performances and teaching skills. It is important for us to integrate the local inhabitants from Kfar Yehoshua in our ongoing activities, to become a vital part of the local community, and to develop a thriving multi-cultural center.
Our budget is based on self-generated income from our classes, workshops and events, and from donations from foundations, government sources, and individuals. We invite you to support our activities!
